Wednesday is release day in Japan

Japanese music has treated Wednesday as its standard street date for decades. The habit grew out of the sales-chart cycle tracked by Oricon and hardened into a retail routine: shops, radio and television all planned around a midweek drop. Korea never adopted it. Korean releases typically arrive at six in the evening on no fixed weekday, timed for the streaming charts rather than for shop shelves. NiziU is managed through JYP’s Japanese operation, so the group follows the Japanese calendar — which is why the official description bothers to spell out the weekday at all.
