Going solo without leaving

In most pop industries a solo record signals a member on the way out. In Korea it is managed maintenance. Agencies schedule solo releases, acting roles, variety appearances and unit projects into the gaps between group comebacks — partly to keep individual members visible, partly to test what each of them can carry alone before the seven-year contract point arrives. That this one went out through the i-dle channel rather than a separate artist channel is the tell: it is being presented as part of the group’s activity, not a departure from it.
