Spelling a Latin name back into Hangul

Notice the parenthetical: 비에이이일칠삼. That is not a translation. It is the group’s name transcribed letter by letter and digit by digit into Korean script — 비에이이 for B-A-E, then 일칠삼 for the numbers one, seven, three read individually rather than as “one hundred seventy-three”. Korean distributors do this so that a name written in the Latin alphabet is still typeable and searchable on a Korean keyboard. It also fixes the pronunciation: without it, a Korean reader might say the digits as a single number, or read BAE as the common surname 배.
