Why Korean EPs are counted, not named

Korean releases carry an ordinal in the title — 5th EP, 3rd full album, 2nd single — and the number is treated as part of the official name rather than trivia. It comes from the industry’s registration habits: albums are logged with the distributor and the music charts in numbered sequence, and fans, retailers and broadcasters all use that number to tell releases apart. A group might put out several EPs in eighteen months with similar cover art and colour schemes, so “the fifth” is often clearer than the title itself.
