Who are ILLIT?

Five members under BELIFT LAB, one of the labels inside HYBE, the company behind BTS. They were assembled through the 2023 survival programme R U Next? and debuted in March 2024 with “Magnetic,” which became one of the fastest-charting debuts a K-pop rookie group has managed. Two of the five members are Japanese, which matters for the release you are watching.

Why there is a separate Japanese debut

Japan is the second-largest music market in the world and it does not simply import Korean releases. Groups debut there again — new single, new promotion cycle, Japanese-language recordings, a Japanese label and fan club, appearances on Japanese television. A Korean act can be three years into its career at home and still be a “debut” act in Tokyo. 時よ止まれ (Toki Yo Tomare, “time, stop”) is that moment for ILLIT, released in the autumn of 2025.

Watching from outside Korea
