Every Korean release is a “comeback”

컴백 does not imply a long absence. It is the standard industry term for the start of a promotion cycle, so a group that put something out in spring is still said to be making a comeback in August. The word comes from television scheduling: once a title track is chosen, the group returns to the weekly music programmes with a comeback stage, repeats it for two or three weeks, then closes the run with a goodbye stage. Agencies, broadcasters and fans all work to that calendar, which is why an active group can have several comebacks in one year.
