The hip-hop duo, a Korean staple

Mighty Mouth are a two-man act, Sangchu and Shorry J, who debuted in 2007. The pairing of one rapper with one singer-rapper is a format Korean music has leaned on for decades — it is cheap to tour, easy to book on variety shows, and flexible enough that guests can be slotted in without crowding anyone out. That last point matters commercially: a duo has room on the track for features, so each release can borrow another artist’s audience. Groups of seven or nine rarely have that spare space, which is part of why duos keep resurfacing in Korea long after their debut years.
