Kim Gun Mo released “How Far Are You” (어디쯤 가고 있을까) on 1 July 2026, his first new single after roughly a decade away from releasing music. The song is not new material — it is a remake of a track first issued in 1977.

The remake as a standard Korean release

Covering an old Korean song is a recognised release type here, not a filler move. Labels call it 리메이크 (rimeikeu, “remake”), and it gets the same treatment as an original: a proper single, a music video, promotion. The original of this one was the title track of singer Jeon Young’s first album in 1977, written by the married pair Lee Hyun-seop (composer) and Lee Kyung-mi (lyricist), who the label says welcomed the news. Because Korean pop history is compact and heavily documented, listeners tend to know the source, and the interest lies in comparing the two readings rather than in discovering the song.

“How Far Are You” (어디쯤 가고 있을까) is a single released on 1 July 2026 through MUSIC&NEW, the music arm of the Korean content group NEW (Next Entertainment World), which also works in film, drama and cinemas. The label tags the release as folk (포크) and notes that Kim played guitar himself on it rather than piano, his more familiar instrument.
