Names built to be searchable

KiiiKiii, aespa with its stylised æ, i-dle, izna, fromis_9, tripleS — Korean group names are increasingly strange to type, and that is the design. A name that returns nothing but the group in a search engine is worth real money: it keeps the fandom’s posts findable, stops the group being buried under an ordinary English word, and makes hashtags unambiguous across a dozen languages. It is the same logic that produces unpronounceable startup names, applied to pop.
