이프아이 shows where the name splits

Written in Hangul the name is 이프아이, and that spelling does something the Latin form cannot. Korean has no silent letters and no ambiguous vowels, so a transliteration has to commit to one reading. 이프 is how Korean writes “if”; 아이 covers “eye”. The Hangul therefore tells a Korean reader exactly where the seam falls — if plus eye, not i-feye.
