A visualizer is not a music video

Korean labels distinguish carefully between a music video, a performance video and a visualizer, and the last of these is the cheapest of the three. A visualizer is built to give a track a home on YouTube without a shoot: usually looping artwork, typography or simple motion graphics, running the length of the song. It exists because YouTube is where a great many listeners actually consume music, so every track needs a video object even when the budget only covers one proper shoot per release. Seeing “Official Visualizer” in a title tells you where the song sits in the release hierarchy — supporting material rather than the lead.
