“Golden” is a song from KPop Demon Hunters, the Sony Pictures Animation feature that streams on Netflix. The studio published this official lyric video on its own YouTube channel in June 2025.

저승사자, the figure behind the rival band’s name

The film’s antagonists are a boy band called the Saja Boys, and the name reads differently in Korean. 저승사자 (jeoseung saja) is the reaper of Korean folklore — the envoy who comes for the dead and escorts them to the next world. He is a fixture of Korean television and film, conventionally drawn in a black 갓 (gat, the horsehair hat) and a dark 두루마기 coat, courteous and unhurried rather than monstrous. Korean viewers catch the reference on sight; most foreign viewers hear an invented syllable. On its own, 사자 also means lion, which is part of why the word looks strange out of context.

Watching from outside Korea

The upload sits on a film studio’s channel rather than a record label’s, which generally means fewer of the territory restrictions that label uploads can carry. The film is on Netflix in most markets, dubbed and subtitled widely, and it supplies the context for who is singing.
