Why BIGBANG matter

They debuted in 2006 under YG Entertainment and spent the following decade dismantling what an idol group was allowed to be: they wrote and produced their own material, dressed like nobody else on Korean television, and moved between hip-hop, electronic and pop without asking permission. Before them, self-composing idols were an anomaly. After them it became an ambition. Their touring numbers across Asia set the ceiling that later groups were measured against, and the members’ solo careers — G-DRAGON’s in particular — shaped Korean fashion and advertising as much as its music.

“BiiiG” was published on 19 August 2026 on the group’s own channel and has passed 11 million views. The line-up here is G-DRAGON, Taeyang and Daesung — the three members still recording together, and the lyrics name all three.
