Daecheon Beach (대천해수욕장)

Chungcheongnamdo 123 Meodeu-ro, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do The area around Haesuyokjang 4-gil in Chungcheongnam-do is Daecheon Beach. It is the largest beach on the West Sea, and there have been resort complexes for international visitors since the 1930s. The white sand beach is 3.5-kilometer long and 100-meter wide, its slope is gentle, and the sand is clean. The sunset over Dabodo Island is especially beautiful. There are two zones of beach in Daecheon: Sunset Plaza and Mud Plaza, and each area offers a unique entertainment in summer. Annually, the Boryeong Mud Festival attracts Koreans and international tourists with a variety of events with the theme of Boryeong’s mud, including the Mud Checkpoint and Mud Discotheque. At the end of the beach is the Boryeong Mud Experience Center, where mud sauna, mud ondol room, mudpack, and mud massage are available. Daecheon Beach also offers activities of its own, such as Daecheon zip trekking and Sky Bike, a marine rail bike that passes over Daecheon Beach and Daecheon Port.

Chilgapsan Provincial Park (칠갑산도립공원)

Chungcheongnamdo 241, Janggok-gil, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Chilgapsan Mountain, located in Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, was designated as a provincial park in 1973. This mountain, 561 meters above sea level, has been called “The Alps of Chungcheongnam-do.” Chilgapsan Mountain area has many peaks, a thick forest and beautiful valleys. Each season has its own unique atmosphere. There are romantic cherry blossoms in spring, vivid green leaves in summer, autumn tints in fall and a snow-covered landscape in winter. Mountaineers visit all year round and can choose from seven courses.

Chilgapsan Jangseung Park (칠갑산 장승공원)

Chungcheongnamdo Janggok-ri, Cheongyang-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Jangseung Park on Chilgapsan Mountain is the largest preservation area for "jangseungs," the ancient wooden or stone totem poles that were usually placed at the village entrance to ward off evil spirits. It was established in May 1999 to counter the dwindling awareness of the artifacts, and houses some of Korea's tallest jangseungs (11.5 m) as well as replicas of indigenous totem poles from across the world. Today, it continues to host the Annual Chilgapsan Mountain Jangseung Festival, and serves as an important site of Korean history learning.

Daebudo Island (대부도)

Gyeonggido Daebudong-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do Daebudo Island, connected to the mainland by the Sihwa Seawall, is named ‘daebu’ due to its resemblance to a "great hill." A notable feature is the cluster of six islands known as Yukdo, which includes Tando (known for its black stones), Buldo (legend says a Buddha was born here), Seongamdo (believed to be a playground for Taoist immortals), among three others. The coastline is dotted with restaurants offering noodle soup and grilled clams, making it a perfect destination for a day trip. Additional attractions worth exploring are the Daebudo Metasequoia Trail, Daebudo Park, and the Bangameori dock.

Daea Arboretum (대아수목원)

Chilbosan National Recreational Forest (국립 칠보산자연휴양림)

Gyeongsangbukdo 587, Chilbosan-gil, Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Chilbosan National Recreational Forest is located west of Yongdeok. The mountain is known to have seven treasures, thus named Chilbo, or seven treasures in Korean. The seven treasures include rock moss, deodeok, wild ginseng, milk vetch root, wild boar, copper and iron. From the peak of the mountain, visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the East Sea. Chilbosan National Recreational Forest serves as the perfect getaway with various facilities.

Dae Jang Geum Park (용인 대장금파크)

Gyeonggido 25 Yongcheon drama-gil, Baegam-myeon, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do Dae Jang Geum Park is the largest historical drama set of MBC in Korea, featuring various architectural sets reconstructed from different historical periods. The park includes facilities such as the Dae Jang Geum Memorial Set, Mangyeongjeon Hall, Gyujanggak Library, Donggungjeon Palace, and the Inspection Department. It has served as the filming location for famous TV series like "Jumong," "Lee San, Wind of the Palace," and "The Great Queen Seondeok," as well as movies such as "The Face Reader" and "The Treacherous." Visitors can immerse themselves in history at the royal costume experience room, where they can wear traditional costumes and take photos on the various sets. Additionally, guests can enjoy their time at the herbal teahouse and souvenir shops.

Chiaksan Recreational Forest (치악산자연휴양림)

Gangwondo 66 Hyuyangnim-gil, Panbu-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do Chiaksan Recreational Forest is a national recreational facility situated in Chiaksan Mountain. It provides accommodations with capacities ranging from three to ten people. The facility is also equipped with outdoor observatories, walking trails, and hiking trails for nature enthusiasts. Dadohaehaesang National Park (Wando Section) (다도해해상국립공원(완도))

Jeollanamdo Wando-eup, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do Dadohaehaesang National Park was established on December 23, 1981 as the 14th national park, and it is the nation's largest park, spread over 2,344 ㎢. Within this area are nearly 1,700 islands of varying sizes, including Hongdo, Heuksando, Geomundo, and Baekdo Islands. During the Silla period, the King of the Sea, Jang Bogo established the maritime world and during the Goryeo dynasty, the area was a trading path with the Yuan and Song dynasties. Also, it was the battlefield where Admiral Yi Sun-sin defeated the invading navy during the Imjin War (1592-1598). Likewise, historical sites remain in many places.

Chiaksan National Park (치악산국립공원)

Gangwondo 26, Musoijeom 2-gil, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do Chiaksan Mountain has several peaks reaching x_heights of over 1,000 meters, including Namdaebong, Cheonjibong, Hyangnobong, Sambong, and Birobong Peak, the tallest of the peaks at 1,288 meters. Chiaksan National Park, designated in 1984, encompasses a 182.09 ㎢ area with a 14-kilometer trail connecting the peaks from Birobong Peak in the north to Namdaebong Peak in the south. In addition to these soaring peaks, the park also includes many deep valleys, unique rock formations, waterfalls, and tourist attractions. Some of the more popular destinations are Geumdaegyegok Valley, Taejongdae Rock, Seryeompokpo Falls, and Guryongsa Temple. The park draws in hikers all year round, with bright azaleas in spring, lush forests in summer, vibrant foliage in fall, and a white wonderland in winter.

Cheoyongam (처용암)

Ulsan Hwangseong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan Cheoyongam is a very small rocky island sitting in the middle of Gaeunpo Inlet in front of Saejuk Village in Hwangseong-dong, Nam-gu, Ulsan. It is a historic islet related to the famous folktale of Cheoyong. The tale is about a dragon that emerged from the east sea along with his seven sons at the end of the Silla Kingdom (57BC - 935AD). One of the dragon’s sons named Cheoyong came to the capital and married a beautiful woman. One night, he found an evil spirit trying to attack his wife so he sang and danced, whereupon the spirit presented itself and kneeled in apology. Since then, people have used the image of Cheoyong to dispel evil spirits. The dance that Cheoyong is said to have performed has been titled Cheoyongmu and has been designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Property. Cheoyongam is the sacred rock where the dragon in the tale is said to have appeared. There are many attractions nearby including Mokdo Island (Natural Monument No. 65), which offers magnificent lush greenery all year round.

Busan 14 Morundae 1-gil, Saha-gu, Busan Dadaepo Sunset Fountain of Dreams is a musical fountain near Dadaepo Beach where water jets are synchronized with music and lighting. Covering an area of 2,519 square meters, it reaches a maximum water x_height of 55 meters and can produce various shapes such as wings of a crane, rainbow, sunflower, and mist. It presents over 60 songs ranging from popular, pop to classical genres, accompanied by the fountain's performance. The fountain operates from April to October annually.

Cheorwon Plain (Migratory Bird Habitat) (철원평야(철새도래지))

Gangwondo Cheorwon-eup, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do After the fall harvest season, the fields of Cheorwon Plain are littered with fallen grains, providing an abundant source of food for migratory birds. Moreover, the well-preserved ecosystem of the Demilitarized Zone provides clean water and a healthy habitat, making the Cheorwon area a paradise for migratory birds. Cranes stalking around the fields and birds taking off en masse from the reservoir make bird watchers exclaim in awe. In Cheorwon, which boasts the biggest white-fronted goose population in Korea, visitors can see observe 110 species of birds, some of which are protected as national treasures. Examples include red-crowned cranes, vultures, white-tailed sea eagles, and golden eagles as well as mallards and spot-billed ducks, which migrate to Korea for the winter.

Cheorwon Peace Observatory (철원평화전망대)

Gangwondo 588-14, Junggang-ri, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do Cheorwon Peace Observatory offers a panoramic view of the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone separating North and South Korea) in the central forward area of Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do. From this observatory, one can see the Cheorwon plain, areas of the DMZ, and even North Korea. Photos of the 2nd Tunnel, military barracks, checkpoints, and the DMZ are exhibited here. Visitors can easily get to the observatory using the 50-person monorail, see the remains of the ancient Taebongguk (nation), and even see the faces of North Korean soldiers through binoculars.
