It saw two battles during the Imjin War (1592-1598). Inside, there are structures like Chokseongnu Pavilion, Jinju National Museum, a victory monument, an outdoor stage, and cafés. The castle overlooks the scenic Namgang River. Visitors can also enjoy hanbok experiences and take a ferry on the Namgang River.

Jeodo Island (저도(딱섬))

Gyeongsangnamdo 17-11, Jeodo-gil, Sacheon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Jeodo Island derives its name from the abundance of paper mulberry (a fiber crop largely used for papermaking) growing on the island. The letter "jeo" refers to paper mulberry, while "-do" refers to island. On Jeodo Island, one can get a glimpse of what daily life in a small fishing village is like. The island can also be seen just behind the bamboo weirs from Siran Dock. The view is a combination of a lighthouse, fishing site, lush meadows, and lodgings with the ocean in the background. Fishing using bamboo weirs is a rare sight to see in Korea, and can only be found on the southern coast.

Jehwangsan Park (제황산공원)

Gyeongsangnamdo 52, Jungwondong-ro, Jinhae-gu, Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Jehwangsan Park, located on Jehwangsan Mountain at the heart of Jinhae, is home to the nine-story Jinhae Tower. The tower, which symbolizes a Korean naval warship, stands at the top of a 365-step staircase and commands a splendid view of both the city and the coastline. On the first and second floors of the tower is the Jinhae City Museum, exhibiting folk models and relics excavated from Jinhae. Jinhae is Korea’s representative naval port city and is rife with cultural relics related to Admiral Yi Sun-Sin (1545-1598), a Korean hero who led the nation to victory in naval battles against Japanese forces during the Imjin War (1592-1598). The city is also known as the venue of the famous Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, which is widely known as the nation’s largest cherry blossom festival.

Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley (장유대청계곡)

Gyeongsangnamdo Wolsan-ro, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do The 6-kilometer-long Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley is located at the foot of Bulmosan Mountain, where the water flowing into the valley divides into two principal streams. Lush trees and clean water make up the area’s beautiful natural landscape. A 30-minute hike along the valley will take hikers to Jangyuam Hermitage where they will find the stupa of Jangyuhwasang, who is said to have spread Buddhism for the first time in Korea. Visitors flock to Jangyu Daecheonggyegok Valley not only to enjoy the scenery, but also to taste the delicious duck, chicken, and baeksuk (chicken soup with rice) dishes sold around the area. In 1984, the valley was integrated into Jangyupokpo Recreational Park where bridges were built and water supply facilities were placed at two locations. Sangjeolgyo Bridge at the entrance to the valley is 30 meters, while Bonpogyo Bridge is 4 meters. A 1,720 meter-long forest trail was also created. The rugged mountain terrain offers a challenging, yet highly interesting climb up the mountain.

Jangsado Island (장사도)

Gyeongsangnamdo 95 Jangsado-gil, Hansan-myeon, Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Jangsado Island is located in Hansan-myeon, Tongyeong, about a kilometer west of the southern tip of Geojedo Island. It is home to Jangsado Sea Park that features twenty themed gardens, including a Camellia Tunnel Trail, a Maze Garden, and a Herb Garden. The park also has various amenities like an Outdoor Stage and an Outdoor Gallery. From observatories scattered throughout the park, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Namhae Sea. Jangsado Sea Park, also known as Camellia, is just a ten-minute boat ride from Geunpo Port in Geoje.

Haegeumgang Cruise (해금강유람선)

Gyeongsangnamdo 270 Haegeumgang-ro, Nambu-myeon, Geoje-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Haegeumgang Cruise is a tour boat offering sightseeing trips around Haegeumgang Islets, also known as the Geumgangsan Mountain of the Sea, renowned for its stunning scenery in Geojedo Island. The cruise departs from a quay in Galgot-ri, Nambu-myeon, near Haegeumgang Village by the seaside. The Haegeumgang Islets, located approximately 500 meters offshore, allow tourists to view various natural attractions from the sea, such as Sipjadonggul Cave, Sajabawi Rock, and Chotdaebawi Rock. A valid ID is required to board the cruise.

Gimhae Astronomical Observatory (김해천문대)

Gyeongsangnamdo 254, Gaya thema-gil, Gimhae-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Gimhae Astronomical Observatory opened on February 1, 2002 as part of the Millennium Commemorative Project that started in December 1998. It was built to satisfy the general public’s curiosity about the universe and celestial bodies, inspire young people, and give everyone a unique, memorable experience. The observatory is shaped like an egg, in memory of the legend of King Kim Suro, the founder of the Garak Kingdom, according to which the king was born from an egg. It is said that the queen of King Suro, Heo Hwang-ok, was a princess from the Indian country of Ayuta. Since sophisticated navigation equipment had yet to be invented, it can be assumed that she found her way to the Garak Kingdom by following the stars. It is also said that a prince of the Garak Kingdom built an observatory on the highest point of a mud fortress in Jinrye in order to make astronomical observations. The place is still referred to as Bibidan, which means a place to watch the stars. These historical facts indicate the stars were very important to the Gaya, an ancient kingdom established mainly in the Gimhae area. The peak of Bunseongsan Mountain, where the observatory is located, offers sweeping views of the entire area of Gimhae. The night sky of Gimhae offers a breathtaking sight.

Deokpo Beach (덕포해수욕장)

Gyeongsangnamdo Sojeong-ri, Geochang-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do Designated as a national park in 1975, Deogyusan National Park covers four counties. Besides Hyangjeokbong Peak, Deogyusan Mountain's highest peak in Muju, all the other peaks lie within Geochang. Chokseongnu Pavilion (촉석루)

Gyeongsangnamdo 626, Namgang-ro, Jinju-si, Gyeongsangnam-do Standing grandly above the rocky cliffs of Namgang River is Chokseongnu Pavilion, arguably one of the most beautiful nugak buildings (multi-storied structure without walls) in the Yeongnam region. Chokseongnu (historically known as ‘Jangwollu’) has undergone eight renovations since its establishment in the 28th year of King Gojong (1241, Goryeo dynasty) and was once used as a commanding post for defending Jinju Palace in times of war. During times of peace, it was used for holding state examinations. Although the structure was burnt down during the Korean War, it was restored in 1960 through the efforts of the Jinju Historical Site Preservation Society. The roof design features a mix of hipped and gabled styles and the stone pillars were built with rocks collected from Chokseoksan Mountain, located in Changwon-si. The wood used for the structure was brought from Odaesan Mountain, situated in Gangwon-do. Noticeable features of Chokseongnu are the four engraved signboards and a board that holds the works of renowned poets and calligraphers. Jinju Namgang Yudeung (Lantern) Festival is held every fall at the Jinjuseong Fortress.
