Sinan Marine Archaeology Monuments (신안해저유물 발굴 기념비)

Jeollanamdo Bangchuk-ri, Jeungdo-myeon, Sinan-gun, Jeollanam-do Sinan Marine Archaeology Monuments, located in Jeungdo Island, came to existence after the discovery of the ancient artifacts. Over 28,000 items were found mostly near the region of Doduk-do Island, including treasures from Song and Won Dynasties. After the first discovery in 1975, more andvarious excavation results were reported, unearthening 600 yearshistory, and gave a glimpse into Korea and China's remarkable development in intergovernmental, as well astrading cooperations in the past, awakening millions ofhistorians in both nations. The excavated artifacts are now housed for display at theNation Museum of Korea in Seouland National Maritime Museum located in Mokpo. In addition, the venue where this remarkablediscovery wasmade andthe monument that was erected, becamethe National Historical Site No. 274 so as to recognize the efforts and sacrifices that the divers had to make back then to preserve and unearth these world treasures.

Sin Jae-hyo's House (고창 신재효 고택)

Jeollabukdo 100, Dongni-ro, Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk-do Sin Jae-hyo (1812-1884) was a legendary theorist, director, and sponsor of pansori (epic chant). Sin Jae-hyo's House in Gochang was built in 1850, and visitors can observe sarangchae (main room), an old well, and a paulownia tree preserved to this day. Sin was not a singer himself but a pansori enthusiast, and he used wealth to train potential singers and contribute to the growth of pansori. He also compiled and edited six pansori madangs (operas) titled Ttoggi Taryeong, Bak Taryeong, Simcheongga, Jeokbyeokga, Chunhyangga, and Garujigi Taryeong, of which only five are passed down. To honor his contributions and passion for pansori, Dongni Gugakdang was founded behind this house.

The name "Simyeon" means deep pond. The landscape is picturesque, and visitors can enjoy forest bathing along the trail lined with pine trees. Even in the summer, the cool flowing water makes it an ideal destination for relaxation.

Simwonsa Temple (심원사(철원))

The temple complex comprises various buildings, including Daeungjeon Hall, Myeongbujeon Hall, and Samseonggak Hall. Myeongbujeon Hall is particularly notable as it enshrines the statue of Ksitigarbha, which has been designated a Treasure of Korea. It is believed that if one prays earnestly, a single wish will be granted. This belief continues to draw Buddhists on pilgrimages, eager to experience the spiritual wonder of this revered sculpture.

Silleuk Temple Resort (신륵사관광지)

Gyeonggido 73, Silleuksa-gil, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do The Silleuksa Temple Resort features countless relics and remains, awe-inspiring scenery, the Geumeun Sand Zone, and Silleuksa Temple. Silleuksa Temple is also referred to as the byeokjeol (‘walled temple’ because it has a pagoda made entirely of bricks). The pagoda was erected by the renowned Buddhist monk Wonhyo during the Silla Kingdom, and is visited by many who are drawn to the beautiful natural scenery along the banks of the Namhangang River, which is served by convenient transportation.

Daejeon 32-834, Secheongongwon-ro, Dong-gu, Daejeon Sikjangsan (623.6 meters) is a mountain spanning three regions - Dong-gu of Daejeon, Gunbuk-myeon and Gunseo-myeon of Okcheon-gun. As the tallest peak in the city located in the southeastern part of Dong-gu, Daejeon, it stands proudly next to great mountains in neighboring regions such as Seodaesan, the tallest peak in Chungcheongnam-do (904 meters), and Daeseongsan, the tallest in Okcheon (705 meters). Home of a 4.82 million-square-meter large, natural ecosystem preservation forest designated by the city, Sikjangsan is an ecological repository featuring plants of 224 species, 45 varieties, 187 genera, and 78 families; 45 kinds of mammals such as roe deer, squirrels, wildcats, raccoons and bats; over 100 types of birds; reptiles; and amphibians.Sikjangsan Cultural Park is an ecological park that continues from Secheon Park to Sikjangsan Sunrise Observatory. The cultural park was established at the peak of the mountain, which had been regarded as one of the best nightscape viewpoints in Daejeon. A traditional tower built inside the cultural park adds a sense of classical dignity. An observatory from which the entire city can be seen in a single view is also located here. People of all ages and genders visit the tower and observatory to enjoy the expansive view of Daejeon.

The area is adorned with palm trees and shade canopies, lending an exotic ambiance to it. This summer-only facility offers forty five-minute play sessions, each followed by a fifteen-minute break. It can accommodate up to 1,000 guests per session on a first-come, first-served basis, and admission is exclusively through card payments. For safety reasons, due to the potentially slippery surfaces, visitors are required to wear aqua shoes.

Sigyeongjeong Pavilion (담양 식영정)

Jeollanamdo Jigok-ri, Damyang-gun, Jeollanam-do Designated as the top monument of Jeollanam-do, Sigyeongjeong Pavilion means a place where even the shadow of the moon can find a place to rest. As its name suggests, this pavilion is set in a lush and remote forested area. Countless number of scholars and writers have been attracted to this pavilion as a place of profound inspiration. The pavilion gained more fame from the legendary lyrics of Seongsanbyeolgok written by the poet Jeong Cheol. The elegant words of Kim Seongwon, a literary scholar, depict the scenic beauty of Seongsan Mountain as the seasons change. Of all the pavilions situated at the basin of the Yeongsangang River the Sigyeongjeong Pavilion is said to be blessed with a breathtaking view from the side. The current building was restored in the early 1900s. At the Sigyeongjeong Pavilion there is the Buyongdang, a monument with the lyrics to the Seongsanbyeolgok Poem, and next to it an old library building called Jangseogak built to preserve the wooden blocks of Songgangjib, a book of poetry written by Jeong Cheol.

Sibiseonnyeotang (Tangsudonggyegok Valley) (십이선녀탕(탕수동계곡))

Gangwondo Sibiseonnyeotang-gil, Inje-gun, Gangwon-do Sibiseonnyeotang Valley (Valley of the Twelve Angels’ Bath) is a beautiful valley filled with water flowing through a cascade of waterfalls and pools. In the past, there were 12 of each, although the size and shape has changed over time. The valley also features many uniquely shaped rocks and a forest comprised of many types of trees, including maple, pine nut, and pine trees. The path passing through the V-shaped valley crosses the stream often, so visiting after heavy rainfall is not recommended.

Sibipokpo Falls (이폭포(12폭포))

Chungcheongnamdo Guseok-ri, Nami-myeon, Geumsan-gun, Chungcheongnam-do Sibipokpo Falls is a series of 12 ("sibi" in Korean) waterfalls in a valley of Seongchisan Mountain in Geumsan. Visitors can see the falls of various sizes by walking on the hiking trail as it winds its way through the forest along the stream. The path is accessible from the parking lot by Seongchisan Rest Area. Nearby attractions include Simcheon Wellbeing Recreational Forest and Yongdamho Lake.
