Cheongnyeongpo Scenic Spot (청령포)
Gangwondo 133 Cheongnyeongpo-ro, Yeongwol-eup, Yeongwol-gun, Gangwon-do Cheongnyeongpo Scenic Spot is one of Yeongwol's representative tourist destinations, also well known as Joseon's 6th king Danjong’s home in exile. The Namhangang River surrounds its three sides, and there are mountains on the other side. It is only accessible by boat. For reference, there is no set schedule for the departure and arrival of the boat, and it starts operating once the travelers are seated to some extent. Travelers are welcomed by tall pine trees when entering Cheongnyeongpo. There are many historical sites, such as Danjong's home in exile, a pine tree about 600 years old called Gwaneumsong, and Manghyangtap Tower, which serves as an observatory.

Cheongchun Balsan Village (청춘발산마을)
Gwangju 12-16 Cheonbyeonjwa-ro, Seo-gu, Gwangju Balsan Village is a representative neighborhood of Gwangju and is a prime example of how something amazing can come out of hardship. First settled by Korean war refugees, the small houses jam-packed on a hillside attracted young people looking for work in the 1970s and '80s, mainly females working in the garment factories nearby. Recently, the addition of colorful murals and public spaces has given the village a breath of new life.

Cheongnyangsan Provincial Park (청량산도립공원)
Gyeongsangbukdo 39, Gwangseok-gil, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do Cheongnyangsan Mountain, with an altitude of 870 meters, is hidden away from civilization. Attractions in the mountain are 12 peaks including Geumtapbong Peak, eight caves, Gwangchangpokpo Falls, and Cheongnyangsa Temple, built by Buddhist monk Wonhyo during King Munmu’s third year of reign during the Silla Period (57 BC - AD 935). Behind the Cheongnyangsan Provincial Park’s entrance boulder is a monument with a poem inscribed on it by the famous scholar Toegye Yi Hwang of the Joseon period called Cheongnyangsanga. Aside from Toegye Yi Hwang, Wonhyo and Uisang, caligraphy master Gimsaeng, scholar Choi Chi-won, and many others came to this mountain to cultivate their arts. Their presence still lingers in legends, being retold to this day.

Cheongchoho Lake Park (청초호 호수공원)
Gangwondo 140 Expo-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do40 Cheongchoho Lake Park is where the 1999 International Tourism & Culture Expo was held. Benches are scattered around the park for resting in the shade of trees. By the natural lake is a walking deck for enjoying tulips in spring, marinas in summer, chrysanthemums in fall, and snow in winter. From the top of the Expo Tower, one can see a panoramic view of Cheongchoho Lake, Cheongchoho Lake Park, the East Sea, and even Jodo Island. On the other side, Ulsanbawi Peak and Dalmabong Peak of Seoraksan Mountain come into view.

Cheongnamdae Presidential Villa (청남대)
Chungcheongbukdo 646, Cheongnamdae-gil, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Cheongnamdae, which means "Cheong Wa Dae in a warm southern land," was once a private villa used by former presidents of Korea. Cheongnamdae became open to the public on April 18, 2003. It is located near Daecheong Dam in Cheongwon-gu, Chungcheongbuk-do and was built in 1983. The total area spans 1,825,000m² and consists of a main building, golf range, heliport, and fishing area. The natural environment surrounding the area has been well preserved, serving as a home to wildlife, including over 143 species of wild flowers and 124 species of trees as well as several endangered species.

Cheongchoho Lake (청초호)
Gangwondo Cheongchohoban-ro, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do Cheongchoho Lake, located in the center of Sokcho city, is a large natural lake with a circumference of 5 m and an area of 1.3 km2. The source water originates from the Misiryeong Valley of Taebaek Mountain Range and flows to the Cheongchocheon Stream and to this beautiful lake, and then continues to the adjacent sea. So, the lake is an intermediate stop between the river and the sea. Cheongchojeong Pavilion is located above the lake, offering an open view of Seoraksan Mountain and the East Sea. As it is situated at the end of the 75 m-long ocean bridge, you will feel standing in the middle of the lake and enjoy a panoramic view of the lake. Shining more at night, this pavilion is regarded as the best attraction for the beautiful night view in Sokcho. It also attracts visitors’ attraction with its sculptures of the blue and yellow dragons, which were established based on the local legend associated with Cheongchoho Lake. The trail built around the lakeside is equipped with a nighttime lighting system so that many people visit it at night and the benches for rest and appreciating the view. There are many attractions around the lake, such as Seokbong Ceramic Museum, bird sanctuary, etc. The Cheongchoho Lake Park was the venue of the International Travel Expo ’99 Kangwon and is known for its 73.4 m high Expo Tower Observatory.

Cheongna Lake Park (청라호수공원)

Cheongansa Temple (천간사)
Seoul 20-8, Bulgwang-ro 10-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul Cheongansa Temple was first built in 1960, and was re-built in 2009. It has many pagodas and monuments: a pagoda filled with sari relics of Buddha; Budotap Pagoda, which is a shrine to the monk who found the temple and his sacred relics; and a monument honoring the late first lady Yuk yeong-su. The re-built temple was awarded the Hanok Prize in the Hanok Competition 2011. Located along the Bukhansan Mt. Dulaegil Trail, the temple provide visitors with the chance to enjoy fresh air and a rest from hiking along the trail.

Cheongjuhyanggyo Confucian School (청주향교)

Cheongju Yonghwasa Temple (용화사(청주))
Chungcheongbukdo 565 Musimseo-ro, Seowon-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do This temple was founded in 1902. Yonghwasa Temple can be found about 2 kilometers down the small road from a National Road connecting Judeok-eup, Cheongju, with Eumseong. Unlike other Buddhist temples, which tend to be located in secluded places, Yonghwasa Temple is easily reachable from the city, attracting many visitors. Set against a backdrop of green lawns and forests, the temple's stupas, stelae, three-story stone pagodas, and guardian trees bring Buddhist culture to life. A Goryeo-era Standing Stone Buddha, a cultural heritage, can be found in the complex. Its elegant and full body, round face, and delicate expression of folds in the Buddha’s clothing all showcase the unique qualities of Goryeo-era Buddhist sculptures. The Buddha holds a medicine bowl in the left hand, which heals all diseases and eliminates all distractions in pursuit of truth.

Cheong Maesil Farm (홍쌍리 청매실농원)
Jeollanamdo 55 Jimak 1-gil, Daap-myeon, Gwangyang-si, Jeollanam-do Cheong Maesil Farm sprawls across an expansive area of over 165,000 m2 at the foothills of Baegunsan Mountain, which rises to an elevation of 1,217 meters. The farm has been lovingly tended to by the renowned Plum Blossom Doctor, Hong Ssang-ri, for decades, drawing visitors from all over the country. In March, Cheong Maesil Farm transforms into a breathtaking canvas of colors—with blue and red plums, the delicate lily trees and the vibrant cornelian cherries all blossoming in unison. For photo enthusiasts, the farm boasts a dedicated photo zone, while the Pavilion Observatory offers panoramic views that are a favorite among visitors. From this spot, one can marvel at the picturesque scenery of Gwangyang Maehwa Village, Seomjingang River, and Hadong Village on the river’s other side. Visitors in spring are recommended to attend the annual plum festival centered around Cheong Maesil Farm. Moreover, the nearby Gwangyang Plum Culture Center makes for an enriching stopover.

Cheongju Sangdangsanseong Fortress (청주 상당산성)
Chungcheongbukdo 70 Seongnae-ro, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Sangdangsanseong Fortress in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do is a fortress built along the natural slopes close to downtown Cheongju. It was comprehensively improved in 1596 (29th year of King Seonjo’s reign) during Imjinwaeran (Japanese invasion of Korea in 1592) and later remodeled into a stone fortress during the 42nd year of King Sukjong’s reign. This 4.2km-long, 3-4m-tall fortress was built with stones of various sizes, earth and sand. The fortress has three gates, located in the east, west and south respectively. The three gates remain almost intact, and all still have their gate towers. The front gate in the south, named ‘Gongnammun Gate,’ is crescent-shaped while the East and West gates are square. The East and West Command Posts also stand within the confines of the fortress itself. This fortress was designated as Historic Site No. 212 in 1970. Additionally, visitors can sample Jujube Wine (Korean traditional wine) as well as a variety of local cuisine.

Cheoneunsagyegok Valley (Wonju) (천은사계곡(원주))
Gangwondo Gwirae-ri, Gwirae-myeon, Wonju-si, Gangwon-do Cheoneunsagyegok Valley is located at the entrance to the hiking trail to Baegunsan Mountain. The area is adorned with a diverse array of tree species, including pine trees, creating an ideal environment for woodland walks. Stretching for about 500 meters from the entrance to Cheoneunsa Temple, the valley features clear, cool waters and broad rocks, making it a favored destination for summer vacationers.

Cheongju Jungang Park (청주 중앙공원)
Chungcheongbukdo 33, Sangdang-ro 55beon-gil, Sangdang-gu, Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do Located at the heart of Cheongju city center, Jungang Park is a relaxing space full of cultural heritage and things to do. Its most famous feature is the massive ginkgo tree that has stood here for nearly a thousand years. Ginkgo trees are famously long-lived, so this 30-meter high tree with an 8-meter circumference is majestic and welcoming at once. Its nickname, Apgaksu, is said to originate from its leaves resembling a duck foot. Mangseollu Pavilion, a nugak (a building built to have a view of the surrounding areas without any doors or walls) built during the Goryeo period, is the oldest wooden structure in Cheongju. Another cultural site is the Byeongma Jeoldosa Yeongmun Gate, a door that served as the entrance to the office of Byeongma Jeoldosa. Byeongma Jeoldosa was a Joseon-period position tasked with quelling rebellions. The park also hosts musical concerts and presentations.
